Pantone gave us a very deep and rich color for the year 2015 named Marsala (PANTONE 18-1438). As Pantone itself describes it, "Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in to its embracing warmth". The hue of this strong color walks on a line between deep burgundy and soft terracota.
Though Marsala is a very strong color itself it might be difficult to catch the right shade to pair with. The perfect examples are in an eastern style interiors of course. East was always a big fan of this kind of moody rich colors so researching through the history of Moroccan and Indian interiors shows a nice use of Marsala.
Another nice pairings can be chosen from light patel pallette like soft blue or green, honey beige or light gold. For creating a an intriquing dramatic interior some dark and moody colors can be used.Marsala will give a unique characteristics to fabrics or textured surfaces so this is an ideal choice for rugs, bedding and upholstered living room furniture.
